This is conducted by the so-called the Biro Tata Negara. I am sure most are aware that such an entity exists.

When I went for my BTN course a few years ago, I was told that it had already mellowed compared to the 'commando-death camp' programme that it was once before.

My coordinators were courteous, and ever willing to hear out our problems. It could have been worse if not for these people.

However, the whole programme is rather galling if you are a non-bumiputera. They tell you time and again that you are kaum pendatang, and that you do not have any rights in this country. They drive home a point that we are just living on borrowed time, and in the future, may not be welcome in this country anymore.

I personally had a hard time going through the course, and had to grit my teeth and continue with it just for the sake of my confirmation.

I had thought my BTN centre was a one-off that had rather blighted organiser, but to my horror, I learnt recently from one of my friendz this is still going on. My friend had been offered a government scholarship to further his training overseas, and it was compulsory for him to attend the BTNcourse.

My question is, if the Prime Minister's Department is so interested in mending race relations, why isn't it starting with the BTN?

Most non-bumis who went for the BTN course feel anger and resentment for the Malays after completing the course. This is not what the BTN is supposed to be there for.

For everyone's sake, let everyone live in harmony. The ball is in your court, Mr Prime Minister.
